We take inspiration for our work from bodies we work with in the community and have a strong commitment to embedding our ideas and vision within social settings.
METAMORPHOSIS IN ACTION
Metamorphosis in Action is a community workshop series over a 6 week period, which aims at offering a space for participants to explore, discover and re-conceptualise the ways in which their bodies are perceived and fantasised. This creative process of rethinking and transforming bodies in action puts particular focus on elaborating how we understand concepts of trauma, gender, race and society.
Our approach brings together principles from movement direction, somatic practice and movement psychotherapy to facilitate an experience where bodily knowledge is situated in the individual, and brought into dialogue through the community. We use free and guided movement, creative writing, art making and verbal reflection as part of the exploratory process.
Each week participants will unpick a theme related to the overarching idea of ‘metamorphosis in action’, a title chosen to highlight the transformational potential of moving bodies that exist in relationships with one another.
The workshop format grows and is modified according to the specific context in which it is implemented.
